What is Youth Activism Camp?

The Texas GSA Activist Camp is a youth-planned and youth-led event where you will spend an awesome 5 days with other GSA leaders and youth activists from across Texas. Camp will be July 26th - July 29th at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. At Camp you will:

• Meet new friends!
• Learn about where Texas stands in the fight for justice and equality, what role the Statewide Network plays, and what you can do to become part of the change!
• Bring back skills to your GSA, school, and/or community.
• Attend interactive workshops, activities and discussions including:
  • Community & Coalition Building
  • Political Education
  • GSA Leadership
  • Queer People of Color History
  • Know Your Rights
  • And more!!! Enjoy fun activities including a talent show, dance night, and time outdoors on a beautiful campus.

What Youth Activism Camp is Not

Youth Activism Camp is not simply a social summer camp or a place to "hook up". If you are accepted to Camp, it is because we see outstanding potential in you to become a GSA youth activist. You will be expected to participate fully, attend all workshops, learn, focus and in your down time, have a blast!

Who Can Apply?

All LGBTQ and straight-ally youth can apply. Priority is given to youth who will be underclassmen in high school GSAs next year, or underclassmen ready to start a GSA club in their school or community in the next year. Youth of color, trans youth, low-income youth, and youth with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.

How Much Does Camp Cost?

The full cost of camp $250, but we offer a sliding scale from $0 to $250. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Payment can be made before camp or on the first day of camp. If you have any questions about paying for camp, please email info@texasgsa.org.
