What Is Youth Activism Camp?

The Texas GSA Activism Camp is a youth-planned and youth-led event where youth spend an awesome 4-days with other GSA leaders and youth activists from across Texas.  Campers will:

  • Meet new friends!
  • Learn about where Texas stands in the fight for justice and equality, what role the Statewide Network plays, and what they can do to become part of the change!
  • Bring back skills to their GSAs, schools, and communities
  • Attend interactive workshops, activities, and discussions including
  • Community & Coalition Building
  • Political Education
  • GSA Leadership
  • Queer People of Color History
  • Know Your Rights
  • And more!!!
  • Enjoy fun activities including a talent show, dance night, and time outdoors on a beautiful campground

When is Youth Activism Camp?

The 2012 Youth Activism camp is 5 days and 4 nights, Thursday July 26 - Monday July 30th.

Where is Youth Activism Camp?

The 2012 Youth Activism camp will be held in a retreat center outside of Kerrville, Texas in the Central Texas region.

This year, camp will be held at a retreat center outside of Kerrville, in Central Texas.

Who Can Apply?

All LGBTQ and straight-ally youth can apply.  Priority is given to students who will be underclassmen in high school GSAs next year, or underclassmen ready to start a GSA club in their school or community in the next year. Youth of color, trans youth, low-income youth, and youth with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.


How Much Does Camp Cost?

Camp costs $250, but scholarships are available for all who request them.  NO ONE WILL BE TURNED AWAY FOR LACK OF FUNDS.
