WATCH CAMP LIVE!

Our Annual Queer Youth Activism Camp is here y'all! The Texas GSA Network is super excited to work with a number of powerful young LGBTQ and allied folks from around Texas. We're looking forward to engaging in transformational anti-oppression workshops and to developing a strong empowered and educated community. If you were not able to apply for camp this year, you are in luck because we are live streaming workshops via the internet! At our USTREAM LINK BELOW you will be able to access live footage of Camp spanning over all five days (July 26th to July 31st). 2012 is truly a great year for youth leadership so tune in, get comfy, and get ready for radical queerness!

Reflections from a Camp Facilitator

July 28, 2012

Today is the third day of camp and the first workshop of the day addressed white supremacy and racism. We learned about ways that covert racism and overt racism can happen in everyday life, and how racism has affected us. We got to do the workshop outside during a beautiful sunny day, and campers were really responsive to the personal story section of the workshop. We got to see how different systems of oppression affect us all and not just racism, but also sexism, sizeism, heterosexism, and many other ways that people are oppressed. After the workshop we moved inside and sat together to talk about some feelings that we may have felt during the White Supremacy and Racism workshop and how we can take those feelings and direct them to making positive change in our communities. A lot of the campers had some great ideas on ways they can make change in their lives.
